Visa program allows facilities to hire foreign workers,
A hot topic brought to you by SpecialtyRx, your partner in long-term care
Staffing shortages are nothing new but a unique visa program may provide a solution for long term care facilities looking to hire. The J-1 visa exchange program, which allows designated U.S. government, academic, and private sector organizations to conduct the program, is being used to address the problem.
Through the program, the State Department appoints providers as sponsors for individuals on specific career paths. The providers can then hire individuals from other countries, providing job training for the duration of their stays. Employers can hire a variety of individuals ranging in skill sets, including interns, management trainees, specialists and physicians.
The Conrad 30 Waiver Program is also available to foreign medical graduates. It allows them to apply for a waiver of the 2-year foreign resident requirement upon completion of the J-1 exchange visitor program under certain conditions.
“Utilizing government programs to assist in solving problems is an excellent way to get things done. At SpecialtyRx we seek out every available program to ensure the best service possible,” stated Barbara Wlodyka, HR Director.
